The second board meeting of the 6th board of the CEAB was held on the 7th of April 2015 at the CCPIT representative office. In attendance at the meeting were 13 persons including JIN Xugong from the Chinese embassy economic division, CEAB Chairman and PetroChina International (London) Co., Ltd Managing Director SI Bingjun, the CEAB general vice-chairman and CCPIT UK Representative office Chief Representative LIN Ning, Sinochem European Group Co., Ltd Managing Director LEI Jiazhao, CEAB vice-chairman and China Taiping Insurance (UK) Co. Ltd Managing Director GENG Jinhai, China Construction Bank (London) Ltd Managing Director FENG Xilai, China Unicom (Europe) Operations Ltd Managing Director MA Yan, Bank of China (UK) Co., Ltd CEO SUN Yu and representatives from China Telecom (Europe) Ltd. The meeting was chaired by Chairman SI Bingjun.
The meeting was primarily structured into six parts: 1) the election of an honorary president; 2) summarizing the work done in the first quarter; 3) a discussion on strategic partnerships with other locally based associations; 4) a discussion on the set up of a platform for healthcare and Chinese language instruction for the children of expatriates; 5) a discussion on the association’s plan for sustainable development; 6) review and approval of membership applications and a discussion of other relevant work items.
JIN Xugong affirmed the work of the association and commented that the events organised by the association not only showcased Chinese enterprises, but were also well received by the members and other UK stakeholders. With 2015 being the UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange, the UK government is supporting investment and development by Chinese enterprises in Britain, which will also provide good momentum for the development of the association. At the same time, he expressed the wish for the association to further integrate into the local community, build better platforms, protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, and to continue to develop in a sustainable, broad and cooperative direction.
